Start Loving Your Monday

I used to dread Monday mornings, and sometimes I still do, but I've tweaked a few things recently that have made kicking off the week a little easier.

I know this might seem silly, but making our bed honestly changes my mood. It sets the tone for the day. I also appreciate ending my day with a made bed versus a messy one.

Next, I'm forcing myself to read on Sunday nights instead of getting buried in my phone, emails and Instagram feeds. I feel like it makes me a bit anxious as I start thinking about all the things I need to do for the week. Instead, I place my phone outside of my reach and a grab a book. I dont get the opportunity to read very often because most nights I'm simply too tired, but if I can get in a few pages, or a chapter or two, I find that it settles my mind a bit.

I keep a small pad of paper on my beside table and pen to remind myself of a few to-do's and getting it out of my head and on paper keeps me from brewing over it. I have a tendancy to remember everything that I forgot to do right before bed, so now I simpy write it down because it's one less thing on my mind.

Mornings can be hectic in our house and I while I have good intentions of getting to the office early, I seem to always be running 20 - 30 minutes behind schedule. Instead of rushing around to make sure I have time to pick-up a coffee, I now buy cold brew coffee at the grocery which makes for one less stop in my morning.

Lastly, I try to spend a few minutes on Sunday nights mapping out my week. Things can obviously change last minute, but I like to have a view into my work week deliverables and family committments - my Day Designer really helps with that (read more on how I stay organized)
