Wow, how is it February already? Seems a bit late for a “Happy New Year” post, but January was a bit of a blur. Following the holidays I needed a bit of a reset. I started the year with big plans to organize our home (this 30-day challenge is really good and I do it a couple times per year) and intentions to focus on other areas of my life - digital and mental clutter.

None of my efforts and goals can be tackled in a single month, or honestly, even a year, but I’m identifying broader life changes to make in my professional life, parenting, daily schedule and relationships. For some reason I feel like physical and mental clutter link back to the other changes I want to make either directly or indirectly. For me, clutter has always paralyzed me in a sense because it doesnt free up space for me to focus on other areas of my life. To help put this is into context, here are a few posts, podcasts and recent reads that are helping me navigate the art and process of decluttering and the impact it can have more broadly.

I’ve been operating in a state of striving for perfection for as long as I can remember. It’s in my Virgo DNA and I can’t shake it. It’s also a quality that has served me well at times. However, if I’ve learned anything this year, I know that I can’t operate in a mode of perfection - especially, now with so many curveballs thrown my way almost daily. In my attempt to make changes to our living spaces and the things around me, I know it will lead to personal changes. I loved Liz Adam’s recent post where she shared more about her 2021 intentions and thoughts heading into the new year - she summed up my feelings perfectly.

I know this post might seem all over the place, but hopefully I can connect the dots for you more throughout the year as we transition through another season of change as it relates to the current pandemic and trying to reconfigure what life will look like once we turn a corner.

What’s on your mind this year and what changes are you hoping to make?

Also, really trying to kick-off the month with no shopping. A was able to bet a few purchases in last week, which include a couple things that have been sitting on my wish list for a long time.

Finally trying this bath and body brand (rave reviews and a clean product, which is a win-win)

A new planner that has helped me stay organized (the size, format, and page layout is perfect)

I literally use this hair tool all the time and it has completely changed my morning routine and has helped me feel more pulled together for work/virtual meetings

Recent home splurge - with all this time at home, why not add little touches that bring me joy

Personal stationery because I’ve been writing personal notes lately to family and friends from afar

I invested in a new wallet from one of my favorite brands
